Composition Board 459 begins with beautifully figured Walnut, its grain creating a strong natural pattern across the board. Strips of Cherry and Osage Orange cut through that figure, breaking the pattern with shifts in color and direction.

The result is a composition built around contrast — not only between three species of wood, but between the movement already present in the Walnut and the deliberate lines introduced through the design.

At 17.25 inches long, Board 459 has a generous working surface and a slim .8-inch profile. But it is the interruption in that remarkable Walnut figure that gives this piece its identity.
