Sometimes the composition comes from letting the grain run. Sometimes it comes from interrupting it.

Composition Board #431 begins with Walnut as the dominant wood, giving its natural figuring room to move across the board. Then bands of lighter Maple and warmer Cherry deliberately break through those lines.

The result is a composition built on interruption—the eye follows the movement of the Walnut until another wood steps in and changes the direction.

Rounded corners soften the overall shape and provide a nice counterpoint to the stronger lines running through the composition.

At 14.5" x 10.5", #431 offers a generous everyday surface for food prep while still being sized beautifully for serving cheeses, charcuterie, bread, fruit, or appetizers.

What Makes This Board Different

Walnut does most of the talking here.

Its figuring creates the foundation and movement of the board. Rather than competing with it, the Maple and Cherry appear as deliberate interruptions—breaking across those natural lines and becoming part of the composition.

That's what makes #431 interesting: the design doesn't replace what the Walnut is doing. It plays against it.

That's the idea behind a Chefdude composition board: choosing woods for more than their individual beauty and considering what happens when their color, grain, and lines meet.

Made to be used. Made to be seen. Made with the wood as the starting point.

Care

Hand wash only with mild soap and warm water. Do not soak or place in the dishwasher. Dry promptly and allow the board to dry completely before storing. Periodic conditioning with a food-safe board oil will help maintain the wood.
