This is one of those pieces.

Made from a single piece of spalted curly Maple, this chopping block has some of the most extraordinary chatoyancy we've seen. As the viewing angle and light change, the figure appears to shift across the surface, creating a depth and movement that a photograph can only begin to capture.

There is no glue and no epoxy. The color, spalting, figure and movement belong entirely to the wood.

At 1.5 inches thick and 6.3 pounds, this is a substantial chopping block with a presence that goes well beyond its function. Brass feet elevate the piece from the counter and provide a quiet finishing detail without competing with the Maple.

This is the kind of board that explains why we believe exceptional wood doesn't need much from us.
